Terms of use
Who we are
Scribit is a shared whiteboard run by Scribit. You can reach us at contact@scribit.live.
By creating an account or using Scribit, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
A free community service
Scribit is free. There are no charges, no ads, and we don’t sell your data. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you well before it happens.
Who can use Scribit
You need to be 13 or older. If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission.
Your account
Give us a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. We recommend turning on authenticator sign-in in Sign-in and security. If you think someone else has got in, change your password and sign out other devices, then let us know.
Using Scribit fairly
Please don’t use Scribit to:
- post anything illegal, or anything you don’t have the right to share
- harass, threaten or bully anyone
- spread malware, phishing or spam
- misuse share links, for example to pass around content that breaks these rules
- attack, overload or try to break into Scribit or other people’s accounts
- scrape or copy the service or other people’s content in bulk
Your content stays yours
You own the boards, notes and comments you create. You give Scribit only the permission it needs to store them, show them to you and share them with the people you choose. We don’t use your content for anything else.
Sharing and workspaces
Anyone with a board link can open the board with the access you chose for that link. You’re responsible for who you share links with, and you can turn a link off at any time. In a team workspace, people see and change boards according to their role. Owners decide who joins and what they can do.
When we step in
If content or an account breaks these Terms or the law, or puts others at risk, we may remove the content or suspend or close the account. Where it’s safe and reasonable, we’ll tell you why.
Leaving, exporting and deleting
You can download your data or delete your account at any time in Settings, Data. Deleting your account removes your personal boards. Boards in a team workspace stay with the team.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep Scribit running and your work safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or that lost data can be recovered. Keep your own copies of important work, for example by exporting boards.
Changes
Scribit will change over time. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you before the change takes effect and ask you to agree again.
Our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Scribit is not liable for indirect losses, lost data or lost profits from using the service. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can’t be excluded.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
